Daddy cools down

After Mayawati’s decision to field Muhammad Ali from Mumbai South constituency, Arun Gawli decided relook at his decision to merge his political outfit with Bahujan Samaj Party. His daughter even announced that she will file the nomination paper on his behalf as “Daddy” is cooling his heels in the Arthur Rd Jail. Now suddenly Gawli has had a change of heart and has decided to withdraw in favour of Milind Deora!

3M wonders as to who has influenced him… Papa Deora or Kaka Rawle? High chances it’s the former who has also influenced Deepak Parekh and Adi Godrej to openly support his son… the question is – will Gawli’s Marathi votes transfer to Deora or will Rawle and Nandgaonkar siphon them off? Or will Deora Jr play the Marathi card given the fact that he is half Marathi?

this one's gonna be damn interesting. Heard all kinds of rumours of Bala Nandgaonkar getting crores and Mohammad Ali getting some too for contesting and denting the votebanks of the Traditional rivals Yuti and Cong-NCP.
One interesting candidate is Meera Sanyal though i doubt her chances to even make an impact. But i am happy that she is contesting atleast.

Milind is a hit among South Mumbai yuva brigade , has quite a campaign going on fr himself on facebook. Havent heard much from rawle's side yet. Shivsena seems to be to thanda this time. looks like they are all set to lose their lone sitting MP from Mumbai.

I have my doubts... dont forget that the delimitation has forced areas like Parel and Byculla which are considered down market by "Republic of South Mumbai" in Deora's constituency... that's why I speculated that he might flash his Marathi origins in the Sena stronghold...

Muhammad Ali too will dent severely into Deora's traditional vote bank... infact the votes will get fragmented across the city and most guys will win by a whisker...

If i smell the mood right, Congress is in for a bashing in the city...

As for Meera Sayal... the guys who support her will make a dash to Goa or Seychelles coz it will be a long weekend!

well I think Milind has good hold from Coulaba to Metro.I dont know what he has done in last 5 years except building toiletries, and a few ambulances. Then it's all Shivsena till Parel.Mohan Rawle major votebank fall in this region. On eastern zone, Bala Nandgaokar has favourable image esp. in his Mazgaon constituency which can extend till Byculla... can capture Crowford Market + some votebank in core Fort area where Arvind Gawde(MNS) has worked on ground level and successfully led many movements.
Milind Deora and M. Rawale are no doubt the giants but you cannot ignore Bala Nandgaokar. Remember he had beaten Chhagan Bhujbal in 1992. Many shivsainik (in private) still call him giant killer. It'll be interesting to see the fight between 3 giants.

Problems in this constituency:
- Hawkers illgal.. and many non hawking zopes have been converted into hawkers zones. (Municipal vans come and go and then hawkers carry on their business as if nothing has happened)
- Parking space too little as compared to the no. of vehicles
- Food stalls on streets. Shivsena had vandalized many food stalls when Arvind Gawde was in Shivsena*.(*-citation needed) and I wonder what 'Anna ani Aushadh Prashasan' is doing. (including police) Don't they know it's illegal to make food on streets?
- Pirated CDs,DVDs(including Porn) r sold a few metres away(around 30-40 m) from Police Station.
- Grant Road and Mumbai Central always face water blockage in Monsoon.
