What he meant was that the migrants from UP/ Bihar are free to sell street food in Mumbai but should not try to meddle in the state politics! Interestingly similar anti-South Indian rhetoric by his uncle in the 60s has forced the Bunt (Shetty) community to take to politics in a big way… with 5 members from this community having good chances of making it to the Vidhan Sabha.

3M is amused that the Bachchan family has best of both worlds… Amitabh is from UP and Aishwarya is a Bunt!

Year started on a good note for the Marathi Film Industry, with phenomenal success of Ek Dav Dhobipachchad. As the industry undergoes a renaissance, big corporates (Reliance, ABCL, Mukta Arts and Zee) are falling over each other to grab a share of the pie.

Incidentally, Jaya Bachchan who seems to be ‘allergic to all things Marathi’ is producing Umesh Kulkarni’s Vihir… Wot sayz Raj?

Terror attacks may give impetus to “Separate Mumbai” campaign.

Every time Mumbai goes through a crisis… flooding, rioting, terror, infrastructure breakdown… the “Separate Mumbai” brigade swings into action. They will highlight that Marathi Manoos is incompetent to govern Mumbai and Maharashtra acts like a parasite that is sucking the city dry. They have one point agenda… to project how Mumbai is socio-culturally distinct from rest of Maharashtra and hence deserves to be a separate Union Territory or State!

3M: The Marathi/ Kannada equivalent of Karwa Chauth... Will have to ask Marathi directors like Amol Palekar, Ashutosh Gowarikar, Mahesh Majrekar, Sai Parajape, Jabbar Patel etc to incorporate Vat Pornima in some of their movies so that you start finding it romantic!

Newspaper and channels are supposed to be unbiased and are supposed to give true picture of the events going on in the society. But recently they seem to be running after circulation and TRPs. Obviously the “Marketing Guys” are driving them and hence they write or say what would be “saleable” to their target group. Recently a lot of Marathi news channels have been opened e.g Star Majha, IBN Lokmat and Zee 24 Taas. They have diametrically opposite viewpoints on the Raj-Bacchan row from the national channels owned by the same media house e.g. Star News, CNN IBN & Zee News. Obviously they are playing to the gallery!
