- Karachi had about 25000 Marathi speaking people before independence as it was a part of Bombay Province.
- Even today a sizeable population of Marathi speaking people – both Hindu and Bene Israeli Jews exists in that city.
- Ganapati Festival is still celebrated there in traditional Marathi style with Ukadiche Modak.
- The oldest school in Karachi (Narayan Jaggannath School) was started by a Marathi Manoos and is named after him!
