A blog that captures the happenings in Maharashtra and rest of the Marathi World (Bruhanmaharashtra) through the eyes of a 3M – Madhyamvargiya Marathi Manoos (Middleclass Marathi Man). Neither is it a view of the anglicized minority which has lost touch with its roots... nor does it speak for the Marathi masses who may lack the “worldview”. Just a somewhere-in-between viewpoint… but a firm viewpoint indeed!

Balkadu Trailer बाळकडू एक झलक
3Mpedia for the uninitiated: 'Balkadu' is a traditional ayurvedic medicine given to toddlers to improve their digestion. It is also an metaphor in Marathi for values instilled in your formative years. Here it is an intended pun as "Bal" also refers to Balasaheb!

Marathi take-off
3M would like to ask him a few questions:
- Is he aware that there are more Marathi speaking people in this world than those who speak French or Italian?
- Why does he not get angry when announcements are made in Tamil when he lands in Chennai?
- Why should 3M not sue Jet Airways for not serving Non veg food on flights to Gujarat?
- Has MNS said that ‘only Marathi’ should be used? In that case 3M will join the protest!

Saffron Tunes

Marathi Manoos at the helm of affairs in all the top Radio Stations in Mumbai… But only a T-KICK ensures that they sing to Marathi Tunes… 3M fails to understand as to why Shiv Sena took more than a decade to realise that these private FM stations are not playing Marathi Songs?

Non-breaking news!
Almost all the Marathi newspapers carried this news on the front page today… but the English dailies (except DNA) gave it a total miss. That just reinforces 3M’s theory (1, 2, 3) that English Newspapers in Mumbai believe ‘Marathi News’ is not good enough to be associated with! Surprisingly, Times of India’s editions in Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Kolkata and Hyderabad are more than happy to carry news about ‘native culture’ of their respective states… OK let’s accept that Mumbai is the ‘only truly cosmopolitan city in India’… but even their Pune edition gives this news a miss… Amen!

‘Losing a city’
If someone has to be really blamed... it is the Congress party! Even after 50 years of ‘creation of Maharashtra’, Congress runs away from the reality. Hence we have two Pradesh Congress Committees in the state… one for Mumbai and another one for rest of the state. And this arrangement exists only for our state… there is nothing like one committee for Bangalore and one for Rest of Karnataka! Our CM is usually from the ‘rest of Maharashtra’ and hence does not strive to do anything for the region governed by the ‘other committee’.

Western Railways does not ‘speak Marathi’
3M feels that this can only happen in Maharashtra… no other state will tolerate such nonsense!
