Marathi Manoos at the helm of Karnataka Congress

Recently, R V Deshpande, a former Karnataka minister, was appointed the President of Karnataka Congress. He represents Haliyal assembly constituency over which Maharashtra is staking claim. Mr. Deshpande is a Marathi speaking Saraswat Brahmin from Karwar District.

3M wonders– Mr. Deshpande was secretary of Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti’s Haliyal Unit at the start of his political career. He was at the forefront of the agitation for including this area in Mahrashtra during the last reorganisation of states. So can we expect a resolution of the Maharashtra Karnataka Border Dispute when Congress is back in power with Mr. Deshpande at the helm?
